Yahoo Email Goes Mobile with Sprint

Yahoo and Sprint have partnered to launch a fee-based mobile email service, in what's likely a direct challenge to Blackberry from Research in Motion, reports NetImperative. Yahoo Mail for Mobile costs $2.99 a month; it is downloade to users' mobile handsets, specifically devices from Sanyo, Samsung and PalmOne. The format is similar to that of email on PCs, with users managing their Yahoo mail accounts from their mobile devices.
RIM now dominates the mobile email market, with more than three million subscribers worldwide, forecast to reach 5.3 million by the end of the year and 9.2 million by the end of 2006.Earlier in the week, Microsoft announced the launching of a new software upgrade that allows its users access to email via mobile phone.
